It's been 4 years since Fall Out Boy gave the world any music. While they were around, they were wildly successful. In the time they've been away, Pete Wentz did a side project no one cared about and lead singer and side note to Wentz, Patrick Stump even released and solo album...no really he did, you should Google it. Now they are back with a bold statement, "Save Rock and Roll", that's the title for their brand new album due out May 7th. Save Rock and Roll??? You have to play Rock and Roll to save it. I'm not dogging this band. They write some super catchy tunes, but you can't say, "Save Rock and Roll" and have this song as your amunition to go with the statement. Their new single is called "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark(Light Em Up)". It's not a bad song, but the first shot fired in the battle to save rock and roll?!?!?!?! Watch the video and see if I'm totally off base.
Here's what the band said in a statement:
"when we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music. its why we started fall out boy in the first place. this isn’t a reunion because we never broke up. we needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us.
the future of fall out boy starts now.
save rock and roll…"
