Last night former Husker Du/Sugar frontman played on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I'm not sure why his regular drummer Jon Wurter of Superchunk wasn't playing with him, but Bob has friends. This time he had a guy called Taylor Hawkins of a little band called Foo Fighters playing with him. As most guests on late night chat shows these days, Bob played one song on the show and a 2nd for the interwebs. Check them out!!!
New album "Playland" will be out Oct. 6. Here's the first single "Easy Money"....it's all kinds of good.
WOW...I'm not going to lie to you, I'm tired. I just got back from Lollapalooza 2014 in Chicago. This was the first time I've been since it used to tour back in the day and it was their 10th anniversary of having it in Chicago. As you can imagine, I saw a boatload of bands including this one. Here is the Arctic Monkey's set from Friday night. They were playing up against Eminem and I picked Arctic Monkeys...I made a very wise choice. Check it out.
He's just a regular guy. The day before his 2 nights of gigs in Chicago, John Anthony Gillis, better known as Jack White took some time to watch a Cubs game. Turns out he is a pretty big baseball fan. When he was on Conan's show a few weeks ago they talked about going to a Dodgers game together. This announcer is a pretty big fan...even if the other announcer has no idea who he's talking about.
This past Wed. St. Vincent taped a Live On Letterman hour long show. She then returned the following night to actually play live on the show as the musical guest. It seems Dave has really been into a lot of Alt/Indie bands lately. He's freaked out over The Orwells, Future Island and now Annie Clark aka. St. Vincent. Check out her performance of "Bring Me Your Loves" from her "Self Titled" album...and watch Dave after they are done.
Weird Al has unleashed a number of new videos this week from his up coming album, "Mandatory Fun". The first release was "Tacky" and last night Al performed it live on Conan. So take a handful of minutes and enjoy the awesomeness which is Weird Al. Do it...now.
